Skopje Sofia Tour

Description

One day tour for visit Sofia, capital city of Bulgaria – with licensed tour guide.

We pick up you from your accommodation in Skopje and make a transfer to Sofia where we meet out local guide.

The tour starts from Banya Bashi Mosque. The surroundings of this sight showcase most of the history of the city, ranging from ancient Roman ruins to 20-century totalitarian architecture. From there we’ll walk to the heart of the old town, which will surprise you with every step we take. This city is a reflection of each of the cultures and ideologies that have lived here. You’ll get to see all of its different architectural styles!
The tour will pass by the city’s thermal springs and the Roman ruins. We’ll also admire the Sofia Synagogue and discover the background of the local Sephardic community as well as the twists and turns of fortune they experienced during the Second World War.
One of our stops will also be the Sveta Nedelya church and the coat of arms of Sofia, and then we’ll see the small Medieval church of Sveta Petka, whose curious stone façade will surprise you!
Other buildings we’ll see during the tour are the Bath House, the Bulgarian Communist Party headquarters, now Parliament, St George Rotunda church, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre and the Royal Palace. Then we’ll visit the Church of St. Sophia, whose ancient early Christian temple gave its name to the city.
To round off the tour of Sofia, we’ll see the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, considered one of the most beautiful Orthodox buildings in the world. The tour will end admiring this beauty after 2 hours of sightseeing.

Free time for walk or lunch and we are returning to Skopje.
